Disciplines

Our club members are active in several disciplines.  Some meet weekly and most hold matches throughout the year with members and non-members competing for a wide range of prizes.  The many active disciplines in our club are described below.

Archery

We have recently advanced the archery component of the club. We will initially focus on three areas:

3–D Archery. This is one of North America’s fastest growing sports.  It consists of shooting burlap sacs (called a “Bag Course”) or 3-D foam animals at varying distances.  This sport was originally developed for hunting practice and is now shot by many non- hunters because its competitive nature.

Target Archery. This is when a series of arrows are shot at a target on a flat field at known distances.

Junior Olympic Program. This part of the program focuses on developing the the skills of young athletes for competition shooting.

For more information, please contact Brian Dennis at 250-374-4147 or Kevin Kansky at 250-372-1599.

Recreational Shooting

We provide full facilities for recreational handgun and rifle shooters.  Our members plink, shoot targets, silhouettes, and sight-in their hunting rifles.  Our many recreational shooters include those who enjoy shooting for fun, general target shooting, couples who share a common hobby, and parents wanting to teach their children the safe use of firearms and love of the sport.

Junior Program

We have a very active Junior program.  Girls and boys 11 to 18 years of age participate with .22 rifles in prone, kneeling, and standing shooting positions.  We teach Juniors safe handling of firearms, range safety and etiquette, and shooting fundamentals.  We coach the Juniors to strengthen and refine skills, fundamentals, safety, and encourage a love of the sport.

We encouraged three disciplines in the the Junior program: Sporting Rifle, Air Rifle, and Match Rifle. Each Junior shooter has the chance to qualify for the BC Summer Games Zone Team and is encouraged to enter the BC Small-bore Rifle Championships. Our Juniors have been extremely successful at these matches.  Shooting in the winter is at our Indoor Range.

Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS)

This is one of the fastest growing shooting sports in North America!  Relive the spirit of the wild west of the late 1800s!  Shoot single-action pistols, lever action rifles, and side-by-side or hammered pump shotguns shotguns!  We have a very active group of Cowboy Action Shooters in our club that are willing to introduce you to this exciting and challenging part of the shooting sports.
