Annual Prairie Dog Match (April 08, 2007)

The 3rd Annual Prairie Dog Match started out with overcast skies but very favorable shooting conditions.  Those that came out earlier to get their zeros for the match were able to use them, as no sighting shots were allowed during the match.  For those unfamiliar with this type of match, there were 5 shots at 3 distances, 100, 200, and 300 m.  With a total of 15 shots on score, all on the same Prairie Dog target. There were two classes, Varmint and Sporter. The average scores were 109 for Varmint and 79 for Sporter.

There were 21 shooters, many of which were family members.  Three of the teams were family members.  The team shoot was run concurrently with the match.  Team match winners were Jim Benge and Tom Fripp. It is interesting to note that these two are seasoned F- class (long distance) shooters.

In the individual classes the top shooters were:

Sporter class: 1st Peter Walker, 2nd Mark Anderson, & 3rd Mark Thibeault.

Varmint class: 1st Jim Benge, 2nd Tom Fripp & 3rd Judy Anderson

Thanks to Brad Pippolo for the use of his ATV.  Thanks to all those who helped move targets between the distances.  And a special thank you to Mark Anderson for running this match so well.
