As you know, Kamloops has experienced an extreme wildfire hazard over the past few weeks. Serious fire outbreaks have occured around and even within the city. Even though weather conditions should improve for the next few days, it is expected to have little overall effect on our current hazard resulting from the unusually dry Spring and the recent record heat.
The City of Kamloops closed many of its outdoor recreation facilities a few days ago, including Kenna Cartwright Park which borders on our range. Our landlord, DOMTAR, feels that they should follow the lead of the City in the use of their lands for recreation. We agree that it is reasonable to align the use of our range with the status of that adjacent park and are doing so now.
Please be advised that our outdoor KTSA range will be closed as of 4:30 pm this (Monday) afternoon (July 5, 2021).
(The lock will be changed at that time. The current lock will be put back once we are again open.)
We trust we have your understanding for this action that is being taken for the safety of our members as well as the protection of the land and our property. We will notify you immediately when we are able to reopen.
